He was in the very first episode. (He is also Artie in WH13). He was the guy that got Elliot, Parker and Hardinson together for Nate to do a job against someone that stole his plans, but later learned he set them up to steal from a competitor. It's best to just watch The Nigerian Job again.

And the whole blowing the warehouse up with Nate's father in, that's how he planned on getting rid of the team in The Nigerian Job

Yeah, it's exactly the same, that's also how Nate knew. But I would have never guessed it was Dubenich, because he was their target/enemy for only one episode. When they showed that it was someone in prison it narrowed down the list, but until I saw him in his cell I didn't know - only afterwards it made sense, with (as you already said) the whole blowing-up-the-warehouse plot.
But still... why did Latimer want those patents? The next episode is called "The Last Dam Job", so are they working together? Did I miss something in the episode, an explanation or a hint?

the water filter patent application is for a dam as nate did mention when him and his father were looking at the file.

so i assume it is an important piece of the dam that may be a key to something ?

also anyone else wonder how this episode worked even though it has so many nods to other stuff doctor who/back to the future/ die hard and warehouse 13 ?

I thought this episode was one of the better ones of the season. Poor Nate. First his son, now his dad. The team is going to have their work cut out for them. He's going to be a basket case. Right after he destroys the Jerk.
