  • Interesting cases, but I did not like the ex

    9.0
Although it was interesting to hear about the time they were married.

There was so little of Gillian this episode, she is my favourite. Cant wait to see what is going on in her marriage. There have been hints that there is trouble but not much on how much she knows and what she thinks of her marriage.
  • The ex-wife, interesting! But otherwise, the cases were also great!

I loved seeing Cal Lightman's ex-wife in this episode, but I thought that at the end, they wouldn't do what they ended up doing.

I thought that both cases were highly interesting and particularly the arson case had an unpredictable and unforseeable ending, at least from my perspective.

Also, I thought that the rapper's murder was interesting and the writers really did a great job working that case out the way that they did.

Overall, I would love to see more great episodes like this one. I feel that in most episodes there is one great case and one really boring one to fill up time, but not in this episode. Great work by Lie To Me, and I hope to see more great episodes!moreless
  • Hidden Issues

    8.5
Cal has some seriously unresolved issues with the ex. What I really liked is that she gave a real different perspective of what it was like being around Cal on such a personal level. I appreciated that she really did bring up some pretty valid points in being married to an expert on lying. I found the murdered rapper pretty interesting given the turn it took at the end. The arson case involving the television reporter a busy one but one that ended in a simple case of revenge by a scorned wife. I found it interesting that Booker was pretty much in the background this episode and was curious to know if it was intentional due to his recent behavior.moreless

    • (Ria and Zoe are watching Lightman interrogate Jack Garcia.)
Zoe: (to Ria) You do not want to be interrogated by this man, trust me... It's kind of fun when you're not on the other end, though.

    • Zoe: (to Cal about Ria) You always did like them so young.
      Ria: Excuse me?
Zoe: His proteges... they're usually young. It's easier for him to try to mold in his image.

    • Zoe: You know, you just... You saw every doubt, every fear. By the end, that was all you could see. You couldn't let go of anything.
Cal: I was trying to be honest.
Zoe: Yes. I know. I know, but I can tell you, sweetheart, there really is such a thing as too much honesty in a marriage.
Cal: What, you, uh... You'd rather be with someone that doesn't really know you then?
Zoe: How about someone who doesn't need to know everything about me?

    • Gillian: No.
      Cal: What no?
Gillian: You know what. (about his ex-wife, Zoe) We-we have never worked for her before. We are not starting now.
      Cal: It's an interesting case.
Gillian: No. There are plenty of interesting cases. Do you not remember what it was like after she left? When you wore the same shirt to the office every day for a month.
      Cal: I still do.

    • Cal: I'm in complete control of myself. Which is more than I can say for you following me into the men's room.
      Gillian: The women's room, Cal.
      Woman: Excuse me.
      Gillian: The women's room.

    • Cal: Is there a reason you're here?
Zoe: I have a case. I need your help.
Cal: You want to hire me?
Zoe: Well, I don't want to remarry you. What? Do you have a problem working for your ex-wife?
