Life & Times

Show Summary

Life & Times is a biography series from the Canadian Broadcasting Company that portrays the lives of famous Canadians and international superstars. TV actor Gordon Pinsent hosts the series that takes a look into the lives of artists, athletes, businesspeople and celebrities from Canada. The life of hockey player, Wayne Gretsky is first to appear on the show when Pinsent and CBC cameras head to the all-star player's hometown of Brantford, Ontario, to see where it all started for "The Great One." Using archive sports footage and interviews from family members, Pinsent narrates how a skinny kid, who didn't like hockey in middle school, became the greatest hockey player of all time. Canadian singer-songwriter and 60s icon, Joni Mitchell, is next up in Pinsent's biographies, showcasing the artist's significance in the world of folk music. By mid-season, acclaimed author Ann-Marie MacDonald replaces Pinsent, and she adds the biographies of some international celebrities to the show. Comedian Cathy Jones, ballet dancer Rex Harrington, Figure skater Elizabeth Manley and musical group Barenaked Ladies are among the list of other personalities who appear on Life & Times.
