This episode marked the final performance of 13-year-old co-star Samantha Smith. She and her father were killed the day after filming was completed in a plane crash upon their return to the United States. Smith would continue to be seen in a couple of subsequent episodes, but her scenes for those episodes had already been completed before the crew flew to England for this one.
