In the first story, "Chicken Pox," Little Bill has to stay home with his mama while the rest of the family goes to a baseball game. Little Bill, who longs to watch the game himself, thinks his day is ruined because he can't go with them since he has chicken pox. His mama tells him that good things can come if you just look ahead of your day. Lots of surprises do come along for Little Bill, but the biggest one was a visit from his school teacher.
In "Shipwreck Saturday," the family goes to the park. Bobby flies his kite, April plays basketball, and Little Bill plans to sail a boat he and his dad made. When a big boat crashes into it, it couldn't be repaired at all.
We know Little Bill loves to laugh, but I think "Shipwreck Saturday" marks the very first time ever in the series where Little Bill is seen crying. Little Bill hardly ever cries.
Anyway, Little Bill finds out, just like when he had chicken pox, you can have fun if you look ahead. Little Bill ends up making a boat-shaped kite.
