  • A young boy who dreams of being a circus performer is devastated when he learns that his parents are getting divorced but the worst is yet to come.

    5.0
A young friend of Laura's is also practicing stunts and dreams of belonging to a circus one day. His happy thoughts, however, are shot down when he has to deal with the reality that his parents are getting a divorce. (A rather rare occurrence back then.)

While letting out his frustration, he suffers from a serious fall and is badly hurt. He also appears to be blind, which is certainly a good way to get his parents back together. Later on, he suffers another blow to the head and claims not to remember anything that happened but he is thrilled that his mother and father have decided to stay together.

I was very bored with this one as it was highly predictable.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • This is the second time that Laura, who feels responsible for an accident involving a classmate, tries to make up for it by helping them with their schooling. She also did this when Nellie became paralyzed in Season 3's Bunny.

    • This is the second time this season that Laura is begged to keep her mouth shut when she finds out something immoral that a friend is doing behind their parents' backs. She did the same thing with Andy Garvey five episodes ago, in The Cheaters.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Jordan: That little girl.....her folks don't get to see her that much, do they?
      Hester Sue: You mean Hannah?
Jordan: I bet it's hard for her being away from them.
Hester Sue: Well, she gets homesick just like all the others, but distance has got nothing to do with folks loving.

    • Laura: (after bounding into the blind school with Jordan) I wrote a book in Braille for you to read to the children.
Mary: Thanks. I'll read it later. Hannah's parents are visiting all the way from Minneapolis, and we want to spend some time.
Hester Sue: In the meantime, why don't you two come into the kitchen? I have some doughnuts.
Laura: Doughnuts?!?!? Oh boy, we'll be in the kitchen! (she and Jordan run out loudly)
Mary: (to Hannah's parents) That was my very shy little sister.

    • Jordan: Why are you and Pa getting divorced?
Belle: Because we can't live together. You've heard us. We had another fight this morning.
Jordan: Yeah, over a sugar bowl.

    • Laura: (overvoice) There was no need to tell anyone about Jordan. God had already decided how he wanted it to be. Jordan never did remember. If he did, I think he would have told his folks......I think.

  • NOTES (2)

    • Ronnie Scribner, who plays Jordan, returned to Little House as a teenager for a dark episode in Season 9, entitled Rage, where he portrayed a boy named Randall Page.

    • Lisa Scribner, who plays the little blind girl Hannah (the one whose parents came to visit from Minneapolis) is the real-life younger sister of Ronnie Scribner (Jordan).
