Mine is Miss Beadle. I think she embodied the best of what we think of as an ideal teacher. I never was feeling Mrs. Garvey at all, and Miss Wilder was too high-strung (she was a spinster, after all, LOL). Laura was just a little baby. I thought Mary made a great teacher, but she was only doing her student teaching in Walnut Grove.

    So who gets your vote?

I think Caroline was the best teacher, she only taught in two episode's, but wow!

(edit) 3 episodes, "School Mom", "Gold Country", and "Stone Soup".

I sort of remember Caroline stepping in, but not specific episodes...Yes, I think she'd be great as a teacher because of her nurturing personality. Just curious why you picked her...

I picked Miss Beadle for the way she spoke to the class, as well as her teacher-ish appearance!

It would make sense that Caroline would be a good teacher when she stepped in to help out, once for Miss Beadle and once for Laura, as she had been a teacher herself before she married Charles and began a life of wandering on the Prairies of the west. That's how good Karen Grassle was!

Caroline had a knack for being able to get through to her students, she cared, had patience, and would not compromise her principals even to the likes of Mrs. Oleson. Watch "School Mom" again, you should have no doubt, and btw Ma also taught in "Gold Country" (besides "Stone Soup"). Miss Beadle was a fine teacher herself, but maybe it's just Karen Grassle, she could act circles around anybody, she's the shows secret weapon!

What, no one said "Harriet"? I love the scene in which she tries to introduce art and the one student's father is in disbelief over the nudes.

I loved Mrs. Beadle/Simms. It broke my heart when they fired her and hired that Applewood creep.

Ma was a good teacher too

    So were Laura and Mary

Ms. Wilder was too nervous and jumpy

Mrs. Garvey and Ms. Plum were so-so, i think Mrs. Garvey was hired just to "fill in" until they could get a better teacher, but at least she didn't show favortism to Andy

Mrs. Oleson was too funny! Her with those school uniforms and teaching French to all those kids and showing pics of nudes! That cracked me up! But like Caroline (or was it Charles?) said "What she has to teach, Mary and Laura don't need to learn"
