- In this episode, John Anderson plays an old man who is obsessed with a music box that plays the same tune over and over again and reminds him of his long-dead wife. In a bizarre coincidence, Anderson plays an elderly man grieving his dead wife in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Survivors" and he uses a very similar repetitive tune to block the empathic abilities of Deanna Troi.
