Reality is suspended in this episode when both Almanzo and Charles fall a far distance. First Almanzo falls through the roof, and then Charles falls backward on a ladder. Either one of them could have instantly been killed, and yet neither suffered even an injury. If you recall, that's exactly how Sylvia died a few episodes ago, falling backwards and hitting her head, and she didn't fall from as far a distance as Charles.
