Little House on the Prairie

Season 3 Episode 10

The Bully Boys

Aired Wednesday 12:00 AM Dec 06, 1976 on NBC

  • Trivia

    • Although Mr. Edwards is seen in this episode during the church scene, his wife and children are not.

    • It seems that Miss Beadle was never, ever around whenever Bubba started trouble in the schoolyard. He knocked one little girl to the ground with a ball, gave Mary quite a black eye, and pushed Laura to the ground more than once. You'd think that in light of what was going around about the Galender brothers at the time, the teacher would be paying closer attention to the boy's behavior at school. Furthermore, Miss Beadle was absolutely nowhere to be seen when Mary hit Bubba with her lunch pail, and the rest of the kids all attacked him at the same time. Even more, when Caroline was assaulted by the two older boys in another scene, there was NOBODY in eye's reach ANYWHERE in town. Not very likely.

    • Early in the episode, right before Bubba gives Mary a black eye, he throws the ball right at a girl named Cindy, knocking her to the ground. Then the other kids kind of just walk over calmly and crouch down next to her to see if she's okay, without looking all that concerned over the fact that she is face-down on the ground and not moving. Their reactions don't match up quite right in this case, and if you look closely, the little girl doesn't get up from that position until the bell rings several minutes later.

  • Quotes

    • Mary: We're not putting up with your bullying anymore, Bubba.
Bubba: Oh yeah? Well, first you better go talk to your papa, because if I remember, my brothers taught him real good how to belly crawl!

    • Edwards: (speaking to Charles, after he is beaten up by the Galinders) You should have said something Charles, you don't go up against roughnecks like that without a two-by-four.

  • Notes

    • Actor Michael LeClair is one of those child actors of the 70's whose face is widely recognized, but whose name is rarely known. He appeared in dozens of bit parts on various TV programs, including Quincy, Shazam!, The Waltons, and several ABC After School Specials. He left acting in the mid-1980's.
