  • This episode lead to the crux of where it was all going - Laura wanting to write a book.

Although thus episode was good, I think that three episodes looking back on the past was one too many. It could have been achieved properly and wrapped up nicely in two. Wandering down memory lane for the third time was getting a little predictable by this point and it was certainly, I'm sure, no surprise to anyone when Laura announced that she would like to write a book about her experiences given that the entire series was based on the writings of the real Laura Ingalls Wilder. Not only that, several times over the years, Laura has told us that she wished she had a remembrance book so that she could write down all of the important things that happened during her life. Obviously, she had one, or a very good memory!moreless

    • Charles: Pa spent the long winter with us. In those months together, my Pa and I had to really talk to each other for the first time. I know that may sound strange, but sometimes parents and children don't really know each other. Oh, they love each other, all right, but knowing and loving are two different things. At the end of that winter, I knew my Pa and loved him all the more. I hoped he'd stay forever, but spring came, and he said he had to journey home. Nobody wanted him to go, especially Laura, because she loved him so.
