Royal and his wife are sitting in their pristine Victorian home, watching their two boys, Myron and Rupert, destroy the house. Royal's super sweet wife reacts every time Royal tries to reprimand their obnoxious behavior, deploring her husband for being too hard on them. Royal comes up with the idea to take a vacation, and suggests that his younger brother Almanzo can watch the boys.
Almanzo and Laura have no idea what their nephews are like, and enthusiastically agree to caring for the boys. Too late, they learn that Myron and Rupert are hellions. They feign illness, start food fights, and even pluck the feathers out of the chickens. Since Royal's wife has already told them that they don't allow or believe in spanking, discipline comes in the form of dumping buckets of water over the boys and forcing them to skip dinner.
Laura is at her wit's end, and Almanzo fears that she won't want to have children. Meanwhile on their vacation, while rafting, Royal learns that his wife is pregnant again.
Myron and Rupert go so far as to fake a drowning. They get the water dump again from Laura and Almanzo. The next day, their parents arrive, and there's one final prank involving disconnecting the stage horses from their harnesses.
