During the court scene where Maxine takes over as Khadijah's lawyer, Maxine picks up a copy of Flavor magazine. If you notice, Kim Coles (Synclaire) is on the cover.
When Max asks Regine to practice her testimony, she sits down and crosses her legs to the right; and in the next couple of clips, they keep changing sides.
Max: Okay Regine, let's hear your testimony.
Regine: Well your honor, we were at Flatbush and Avenue J as we slowly and cautiously eased into the intersection. That woman, raced towards us like a bat out of hell and plowed right into us, and suddenly I felt a snap. And I knew then, that I had suffered a soft tissue injury to the iliac region of my back. The kind that doesn't show up in x-rays. What? You date a few doctors, you learn a few things.
Regine: My what lovely glasses. I bet you could start a campfire with these.
Max: Regine give the woman back her glasses. Please
Regine: I'm telling you, sue this old woman. She probably been socking away Social Security for years. That's our money anyway.
Regine: Khadijah you're gonna need a lawyer. Somebody call Max.
Synclaire: (yelling out the window) Max!
Regine: Must you scream out of the window like a no class low-life?
Max: (yelling back) Coming!
(Seeing Khadijah's jeep)
Kyle: Well, the good news is you can now drive from the back seat.
(Overton is having trouble moving a dresser)
Kyle: Are you trying to move that thing or give birth to it?
Overton: Why don't you put that briefcase down Mr. Businessman and you can help me with some real man's work.
Kyle: Here, my brother, here is what you need. A membership special down at the gym.
Overton: What I need is you on the other end of this dresser.
(They both try to moe it but are unsuccessful)
Overton: Thank goodness you here.
Judge Patterson: Are you a lawyer?
Khadijah: No, I'm a magazine editor.
Judge Patterson: Well, that's okay. I'm not really a judge. I sing in a choir. (Points at photo of Supreme Court) That's me there.
Max: Lose? Khadijah, I am Maxine Shaw, attorney-at-law. I lose weight. I lose patience. If you keep working my nerves, I may lose my mind. But I do not lose cases. So just get your butt used to leather, 'cause you're coming home from court in a Lexus!
Max: Don't touch me…unless you want to get burned!
Max: Maxine Shaw, your Honor. Counsel for the plaintiff.
Kyle (To Overton): Warn the townspeople. The beast is loose.
Max (to Regine): It's not gonna help Khadijah to perjure yourself. You've got to tell the truth.
Synclaire: You can't handle the truth! I've been waiting all night to say that.
Regine: Khadijah, this is what the legal system is for--to carefully examine both sides of a dispute and compensate those who may have been wronged. Oh, my neck!
Khadijah: Ain't nothin' wrong with your neck except wig burn.
Khadijah: Synclaire, this is an accident settlement. Why are you putting out snacks?
Synclaire: Chex Mix goes with every occasion, and keeps so well.
Max: Khadijah, you don't wanna do that. You don't wanna deal with those slimy bloodsuckers. What you need is a lawyer.
Synclaire: Too many people sue these days. I think our forefathers would be shocked if they saw what had become of our legal system. And then they'd be shocked to see airplanes flying. Indoor plumbing. Ooh! And television. That'd flip 'em, huh?
Synclaire says that Jack Peabody's telephone number is 1-800-SUE-EM, which is on 8 numbers. A North American phone number must be atleast 10 numbers.
When Synclaire says, "You can't handle the truth," she is referencing a scene from the 1992 movie, A Few Good Men. The particular scene and line have become a famous and well re-used American cultural reference. In the scene Tom Cruise's character, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, is interogating Jack Nicholsan's character, Col. Nathan R. Jessop, on the witness stand.
Jessop: You want answers?
Kaffee: I think I'd entitled to them.
Jessop: You want answers?
Kaffee: I want the truth!
Jessop: You can't handle the truth!
Jack Nicholson won an Academy Award for his work in this film.
