Summary: Fran goes to Riley’s high school reunion, where of course she’s the oldest one and keeps being mistaken for a teacher. Riley’s friends who once thought of him as Mr. Popular now think he’s mooching off Fran. Meanwhile, Fran befriends the wives, who are unhappily married and hope to one day have a boy toy like Riley. The best thing I can say about this episode is that Fran looked great in it. She looked thin and pretty and the dresses (even the super tight one…that bit was pretty funny!) looked great on her. But that’s about as good as it got. Once again the sitcom went back to potty humor (“if they start sniffing each others butts…” as well as a few other comments) and slapstick (Fran falling in the dress….funny like last weeks falling off the bed but cheap laughs like that wont carry a show.) Theyre going for a mature audience but with that kind of writing the show will be considered immature even by 7th-Heaven viewers. I have never heard the term “cougar” used in that context, and Riley’s friends looked older but were ridiculously immature (the wuss cough, anyone?). I find Allison (aka Bob from Canada) annoying although the critics seem to like her, but Josh is pretty funny. Trying to act macho is a storyline that’s been used on “The Nanny” more than once, although Im trying not to compare the two, and really wasn’t even used to its potential. The exchange between Josh and Riley with “There are worse cradles my mom could’ve robbed” and “there are worse moms I could’ve picked to be my lover” was funny and banter like that between the two of them should be used more often. I felt it got a little too sugary at the end with the “who cares what they think” happy ending, but the tag scene was funny….poor Josh. At least we know that he’s not going to end up “dating Tom.” Like I said, I was able to watch it this week but next week will be pretty much impossible as I’m on a school field trip in Montreal…sorry!
