This question will be asked until the end of time. Not that I blame people's curiosity, but it gets old for people who "lived through" this question's discussion time and time again. I still remember the veeerrry first post about this topic on tvtome in 2002, before anyone knew she left.

Anyways, the reason she left the show was because she was recording an album or filming a movie, i'm pretty sure she was filming You Wish or recording her album. Yeah, in the first episode she was sick, in the second she was at her aunts, and in the last she went to New Mexico City for vacation. I would have liked to see her though

    To quote Winston Churchill:
"It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, covered with chocolate, and topped with little candy sprinkles."
    Or something like that.

Also had she been in the movie, it would have taken some of the spotlight away from Lizzie, afterall it was her film. Another lead female in the film wouldn't have worked.

Ok everyone have their own opinions and here what I think :

Why wasn't she in last 6 or 5 episodes? I don't know and have no idea. Maybe she was filming BTVS or You Wish! I don't know .....

Why wasn't she in the LM film? Well, I posted this somewhere else too and don't take it wrongly but I think that maybe they wanted to make Kates caracther friendly in the end, I mean it was the Sequel afterall and maybe Miranda didn't fit in properly? As in didn't had a lot of dialoques .. I mean they wanted to make L/G closer, I mean they were closer as a friend of course but you know what I mean. Gordo helping Lizzie and ends up kissing and stuff. So I don't see Miranda fitting there somewhere properly.

Well "You Wish" was filmed in New Zealand, so it's likely that's where she was during the final episodes.

I bet Disney, wanted to get Lizzie and Gordo together so they got rid of Lalaine cause she would have no need to be in the Lizzie + Gordo episodes.

I bet she was filming You Wish during the last few episodes since New Zealand is kinda far away u know... But I dunno about the movie. Maybe Disney thought it would be awkward to have Miranda around while Lizzie and Gordo were getting all kissy-faced... Or she could have just wanted too much $$$...

what i think happened is that Lalaine didn't get along with Hilary and Lalaine didnt want to be there while hilary was there on the set + i think she wanted to start a career on her singing

The bottom line is no one outside of Lalaine and Disney (and maybe Hilary) knows for sure.

    What we know:

Her leaving the show early was NOT because of filming conflicts.

And that's about ALL know. We don't know why she left. And we don't know why she was left out of the movie.

those buffy episodes that lalaine appeared in where filmed in December-January of 2003, and LM finished production in Spring of 2002

Exactly. Disney would have made various schedule changes to work around filming You Wish, and for her to be in LM.

I thought I read some where back when this first happened that she had "Family troubles"...and anothe rumor in Buffy world is that she was only in two episodes of Buffy because of "Family Troubles" I forget wear I read that, but I remeber that being the main answer most papers and stuff gave.
