The title is a paraphrase of the title of the 1969 film Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice.
While describing a walk that he and his girlfriend took through the subway, Jimmy tells Lois that he almost expected to meet the Mole people. This is undoubtedly a reference to Superman and the Mole-Men, the 1951 feature film that later became a two-part episode "The Unknown People" of The Adventures of Superman with George Reeves.
