  • Fantastic episode one of the best in the season

The first thing i should say is i am biased to anything with Bruce Campbell in it but this has to be one of the best episodes of the season if not the series, the introduction of Red K was very enjoyable for a long time superman fun such as myself, Bruce Campbell puts in a classic first apperance as Bill Church Jr, and perry really gets a chance to shine in the main story, the only thing i really disliked about this episode was the Scardino or Clark side story which i never really enjoyed mostly because Scardino wasn't a very interesting Character aside from that classic episode with a solid story.moreless
  • Interesting One

This is one of my fav epsiodes of this show. The main reasons being Bruce Campbell as a great villian. Also the Red Kryptonite was a cool idea. The plot was also good. I liked how the villains used the stone to make Superman not care. The plot was the planet was trying to be sold. They refused to sell to Intergang so they kidnap Perry. Now Superman dont care cause of the Red Kryptonite. Also Lois is still mad and gets close to Scardino. Since Clark keeps missing their dates. Simply cause he is Superman and something happens. I thought this was a great epsiode. With a very good plot. In the end Superman stopped Bill Church Jr. Also Lois dumped Scardino and got back to Clark. This is one of my top five episodes of season two.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Goof: At the end, we see Perry sitting in his chair from behind, laughing. When we see him from the front, he has his right arm up with the pen in his hand. When the camera switches to his back, he has his left arm up.

    • Nitpick: The men searching for the red kryptonite are using metal detectors, but if they were looking for radioactve meteorite crystals, they should be using a geiger counter.

    • The kid that delivers the flowers from Scardino was the same messenger who delivered the note from the fake Superman in "Vatman".

  • QUOTES (14)

    • (Superman, completely frustrated, punches a hole in Dr Friskin's office where a married couple wait)
Older Woman: You see, Bob? He's in touch with his feelings!
Superman: Uh, sorry about the wall, I just...
Dr Friskin: No, no. It's all right. I'd have gone with a primal scream, though.

    • Lois: (as the robbers drive off) Superman, you let them get away!
Superman: (still under the effects of red kryptonite) It's no big deal, Lois. Most criminals are repeat offenders, I'll probably just catch them again later.
      Lois: What?!
Superman: And if I don't, well... (shrugs) See ya. (he flies off)

    • Bill Church Jr: (after discovering the effects of red kryptonite) Well, this is better than killing him. He just doesn't care. That was the problem with the green kryptonite, it always ticked him off.

    • Lois:I haven't had the greatest luck with psychiatrists.
Dr. Friskin: Oh, you've spent some time in therapy?
Lois: Oh, no. It's just that the last psychiatrist that I saw had an exact double of me made and tried to have me killed.
Dr. Friskin: How did that make you feel?

    • Lois: I have to go out for a while. Jimmy, hold down the fort.
Jimmy: Isn't that what they said to Jim Bowie at the Alamo?

    • Dr. Friskin: Everybody needs a break from their job. When was the last time you had a vacation? I mean really, just got away from Metropolis?
Superman: I spent some time in London last year.
Dr. Friskin: Well that's wonderful. How long were you there?
Superman: ...About two minutes - I was diverting a wayward nuclear missile.
      Dr. Friskin: How relaxing.

    • Bill Church, Jr.: Perhaps you don't fully understand the situation: you see, if you work for me, you get rich beyond your wildest dreams. If, on the other hand, you continue to cling to your misguided morality, you die. At Harvard Business School, we'd call that a no-brainer.

    • Lois: Pick me up at seven? (Clark nods) But you have to promise me you'll be there at 7:01. And 7:02. And 7:03. And 7:04. And 7:05. (with each breath, Lois draws closer to Clark, until their noses are nearly touching)

    • Dr. Friskin: We could continue tomorrow, say 10 AM?
Superman: Yeah, sure. As long as I'm not saving the world or something.

    • Perry (to Bill Church, Jr.): You know, I'm ashamed I ever let you spit up on me.

    • Bill Church Jr.: So, have you thought any more about my offer?
Perry: Your offer. Hmm. Let's see, uh... All I have to do.. to take you up on your offer is, uh, what... Give up my pride, my integrity, throw away the public trust that I've earned through 35 years of hard work? Just to back of my responsibility to the American peaple to give them the truth?
      Bill Church Jr.: Basically.

    • Dr. Friskin's receptionist (to Superman): Uh-huh. No permanent address. No social security number and no medical insurance. I assume you'll be paying in cash?

    • Bill Church Jr.: Intergang. I run it. Now do the pieces fit?
Pierry: Yeah, like horns on a june bug.

    • Perry: All right, let's break for lunch. You can bring me up to speed on what you got so far.
Clark: Chief, it's 9:15 in the morning.
Perry: So what? Am I in charge here?

  • NOTES (2)

    • The scientist Gene Newtrich is the father of the sisters Nell and Lucille Newtrich who will attempt to steal Superman's powers in the third season episode "Ultrawoman".

    • We learn that red kryptonite makes Superman unconcerned with doing his job, whereas the green kryptonite can kill him. Red kryptonite also has other effects on Superman, as seen in future episodes, but it can also counteract the deadly effects of green kryptonite if the dose of the green is low enough.

    • Lois: Well, thank you for that analysis, Dr. Freud.

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist who created the technique of psychoanalysis, revolutionizing the field of psychology.

    • Lois: Well, that's the $64,000 question.
