Goof: When Superman flies home, as he's coming up behind his father painting the barn, you can see the imprint of the wires brushing against his cape. You can also see the clips on the harness at his hips under his cape for a brief instant.
Nitpick: After the TV stunt, Arianna yells at the clone for using her left hand to push back her hair. Lois Lane is supposedly right handed. In that same episode, right after Clark says, "He got tired" she pushed back her hair with her LEFT HAND. She does the same thing throughout season 1 too. Obviously the fact that Lois is right handed doesn't mean that she automatically uses it for every trivial habit.
When Lois walks into the Planet the day after her double impersonates her, the newspaper she uses to cover up the advertisement for Dr. Carlin's column has her article about the fruit fly spraying from "Pheromone, My Lovely".
Lois: So, when do we start blaming my parents for everything? Dr Carlin: Maybe later.
Lois: (seeing her double for the first time) Wow, you look great. A little heavy on the eye liner, I think. Lois Double: Sorry, but you're a little bit plain for me. Lois: 'Plain'?! Sure beats whatever shopping channel told you that was a good look. Lois Double: Hey, you gotta act like a prissy, glorified typist, you gotta dress the part. Lois: Well, my hair has more bounce than this cheap wig. (she tries to pull it off, but it's real hair)
Lois: But, my reporter's instinct says something's up. What does your instinct say? Clark: My instincts say, never argue with a woman who's just been behind bars.
Lois: You still think I'm crazy? Clark: I think you're brilliant. But there is a fine line between brilliance and lunacy.
Jimmy: I found this book she wrote on subliminal advertising. Thought maybe I could get her to autograph it for my Mon's birthday. Perry: Whatever happened to candy or flowers? Jimmy: My Mom's overweight and she's got allergies.
This episode includes one of its actors in a dual role for the second time in the series. Teri Hatcher plays both Lois Lane and Lois' doppelganger.
This isn't the first time Jack Kruschen (who plays Det. Ryder in this episode) has been seen in the world of Superman. He was also in the George Reeves show Adventures of Superman, in the episode "The Tomb of Zaharan".
This is the first episode starting Justin Whalin as Jimmy. He replaced Michael Landes because some people thought Landes looked too similar to Dean Cain, and because Whalin looked younger and more "innocent", which is closer to Jimmy Olsen's established character in the DC Superman comics.
Madame Ex The title of this episode is a play on Madame X , French playwright Alexandre Bisson's 1908 courtroom melodrama which has been filmed for theatrical movies and TV many times over its century.
