Nitpick: Jimmy says Eric Press is the "Michael Jordan of hacking" at the beginning of the episode. Later, Lois asks Jimmy to break into Press' computer and amazingly, Jimmy somehow manages it. One would think that an "elite" hacker like Press would have better security measures to keep his computer from being broken into, unless Jimmy is the "Magic Johnson" of hacking!
Nitpick: The number of years that John and Martha Kent have been married is extremely fluid throughout the series. When Martha tries to cheer up Lois after her first fight with Clark in this episode she says, "After forty years of marriage I can spot a fight coming." In "Toy Story" they visit Clark to celebrate their 35th Anniversary. And in "The Ides of Metropolis" Clark is upset about his mother possibly having an affair with a younger man, and he tells Lois that his parents have been married for almost 30 years!
Lois: (after Clark complains that she is too controlling as the new editor) You know what I think? I think you have a real problem with the fact that I'm the one in the family wearing the tights. Pants, I mean pants!
(zapping Superman with the molecular disintegrator) Eric Press: Totally cool. I wonder if there's a video game in this.
Eric: Well, come on, you wouldn't kill your own brother. Would you? Ethan: You remember Sunday School, Cain and Abel? (Turns on molecular disintegrator on his brother) I always liked Cain. Sit down. Eric: This sucks!
Clark: My wife, the boss. Lois: I still can't believe it. Perry: Now, listen, you sure you two ok with this? I mean, I, uh, I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. Lois: Don't worry, we've already talked about it. Everything's fine. Really. Perry: You're sure? Clark: Positive, chief. In fact, I'm kind of looking forward to... sleeping with the boss.
Perry: Oh, god. I love the smell of ink in the morning. Jimmy: But it's not the morning. Perry: Oh, hell, Jimmy, I know that. It just doesn't sound as good, you know.
Charles Esten (also known as Chip Esten) is most well-known from Drew Carey's version of Whose Line is it Anyway?.
Krisinda Cain is Dean Cain's sister.
Perry: I love the smell of ink in the morning.
This is a reference to the 1979 film Apocalypse Now, in which Robert Duvall says "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
Ethan: Like Brutus and Boothe and Oswald who came before us, the names Eric and Ethan Press will live in infamy! Ethan is listing famous murders: Marcus Julius Brutus was the leader of the assassination conspiracy that killed the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar; John Wilkes Booth shot U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865; and Lee Harvey Oswald shot U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
