Ching is revealed to be Kryptonian yet he is able to stand in a beam of kryptonite at the end of the episode and remain unharmed.
A new superpower is revealed in this episode, as Ching is shown speaking to Clark/Superman via telepathy. In the movie Superman II, Clark uses a form of telepathy in the form of a kiss to erase Lois' memory.
Lois: Of course. Where else would it be? Every villain in the universe seems to operate out of Metropolis! For once, I just wish we could have a villain in Maui. Or Aspen. Or Monte Carlo.
Jon Tenney and Teri Hatcher were married at the time this episode was filmed. Their marriage was dissolved in 2003.
Ching: As another block of muscle once said, 'Hasta la vista, baby.' Ching is referring to Arnold Schwarzenegger and a quote from his hit movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Ching: I understand. Well, don't hesitate to call. At Century Twenty-Two, We bring your future, to you'. This is a parody of the actual Century 21 Real Estate Corporation.
The title of the show means to have an obscure or imperfect vision of reality. The expression comes from the writings of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13; he explains that we do not now see clearly, but at the end of time, we will do so. Considering Superman is being tested and not knowing it, it is an appropriate title. It is also a title used in numerous other TV shows, including Angel, Andromeda, and Highlander.
