  • An episode of Lois and Clark in which the overacting villain is more amusing than annoying.

\"Virtually Destroyed\" follows Lois and Clark as they work to escape the virtual world that Lex Luthor\'s son has trapped them in. Without his powers, Clark has to try desperately to find another way to defeat \"X,\" the alias Jaxson Xavier has established for his unbeatable alter ego that only exists in his computer-generated world.

The funniest part of this episode was definetely the villain. Andy Berman\'s character is easy to laugh at because of his ridiculous ideas to win over Lois and get the information he needs to have complete control over the virtual world. His banter with the computer would be tedious to listen to, but Berman\'s mannerisms keep the dialogue comical. His childish temper that flares up whenever Lois is close with Clark and his nerdy snicker makes the audience easily pity him.

Clark revealing that he has not crossed the \"intimacy threshold\" was another poignant part of this episode because it was a twist most people were not expecting. Lois\' reaction is priceless, making the couple even more endearing than usual. It helps to highlight the innocent aspect of Clark\'s character, and how it meshes perfectly with Lois\' tough attitude.

Jimmy\'s participation in this episode was fun to watch because he played a key role in saving the day, rather than just providing information for our usual heroes. Jimmy probably could have done more in the episode, which would have been more interesting, but seeing more of Justin Whalin was a nice change.

The episode is a little cheesy and predictable like usual, but with some new faces and a small plot twist, it was quite enjoyable to watch.moreless

  • Trivia

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Lex Luthor wanted all his children to have an "X" in their name. He and Lois chose four possible names for their own children, the "X" names being Alexis, Roxanne, and Lynx. (The fourth name was Lois's own personal choice -- Clark!) Edit
    • Goof: At one point, the muscular version of X rubs the blade of his knife with his left hand, but when the shot changes to Superman on the floor, X's left hand is pointed at Superman. Edit
    • Goof When Lois and Clark share a virtual kiss, their arms stay relatively still, but their actual arms are moving quite a bit, as if they were stroking each other. Edit

    • Jaxon: Ah! (nursing bruised fist after punching Clark) He's thicker than he looks. Edit
    • Clark: (in Jaxon's virtual world) I am getting pretty sick of seeing the same ten people over and over again. Edit
    • Jimmy: Are you ready? Superman: I'm Superman. Jimmy: Good point. Edit
  • Allusions

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Clark: (referring to the virtual Superman) The guy sounded more like Robocop than me. Robocop is a sci-fi movie about a severely injured cop who is turned into a crime fighting cyborg. Edit
    • In the last scene, Jaxon is pressed up against the inside of the computer screen, screaming "No!". This is strikingly similar to portrayals of people imprisoned in the Phantom Zone in the movies Superman, Superman II and Supergirl. Edit
