  • When an old friend of Lois comes to Metropolis, strange kidnappings and thefts are occuring. Could this just be a coincidence or is Patrick, Lois's friend be involved?

ONE! -- This is one of the lowest ratings I have ever given an episode of Lois & Clark. The show altogether is outstanding, but episodes of this low quality such as this seems terrible compared to an episode with Tempus.

It turned out that Lois's friend was a criminally insane and power-craving. Patrick kidnapped different people of Metropolis in order to gain the right to wear the Mask of Droid, which too he stole along with the Emerald of Ireland.

The ending had little action and the action was very poor. If when the Emeralds of Ireland were put together into a certain mask, it was supposed to give the person who wore it special abilities. But the way to use the mask\'s power, a sacrifice was to be made of something they loved. The sacrifice of Lois wasn\'t successful for Patrick, but he still had \"power\" when he wore the mask just as Superman came into the scene. The plot had no meaning and it contradicted itself.moreless

    *SPOILERS*

This episode was formulaic. You could predict what would happen without error. Some of the scenes and dialogue were comically bad. I found a couple of the guest characters annoyingly miscast.

Lois' beau from the past turned out to be a psychopath. It was obvious from the beginning that this was likely to be the case. As that he collected rare artifacts and happened to be from Ireland, right when suddenly Irish artifacts were disappearing across Metropolis.

The plot holes were too many. Some of which include the power of the Druid mask. It was supposed to grant awesome magic to whomever performed a blood sacrifice of one's deepest love for it. When the mask was used, it was not only lame looking but also extraordinarily weak as a weapon. It was activated without the appropriate blood scarifice of Lois. I love L & C, but this episode was just awful. I could barely sit through it. It took a lot of will-power to not fastforward. I just wanted to watch every episode so I could follow the storyline arc.

The ending was also cheesy. The one-liners made me cringe.moreless

    • GOOF: When Superman goes to the museum because he heard a woman yell for help and then Lois shows up. When the guy taking the crown leaves, and the woman in the chair falls over you can see the ceiling fixture fall but when the camera goes beck to Lois and Superman and back to the woman the ceiling fixture falls again. Edit
    • Nitpick: The mask is Irish, which would mean that the emeralds were, too. But how did Claudius end up with them? It's mentioned that the Romans broke pieces up and reused them, but the Romans never went to Ireland, and only controlled a small portion of England and Wales during the reign of the Emperor Claudius. Edit
    • Goof Veronica Kipling says that Claudius was the Roman Emperor from 45-54 AD, even though he was the Roman Emperor from 41-54 AD. On other TV websites, it has her saying that it was 41-54 AD, but you can distinctly hear her say 45-54 AD. Edit

    • Clark: You know how, because I'm Superman, I've never had a cold or the flu? So I don't know how that feels. Well, all that has changed since I fell in love with you. Lois: Are you saying loving me is like being sick? Edit

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • The owner of the safe deposit box that is broken into is named Dennis O'Neil, this is also the name of a famous comic book writer, who has written for Superman as well as many others. Edit
    • Lois: So, $10,000, you didn't happen to see that movie Indecent Proposal? Indecent Proposal starred Robert Redford as a wealthy man who offers a million dollars to a bankrupt young couple if he can spend one night with the wife, played by Demi Moore. Woody Harrelson played the jealous husband. Edit
    • There is a banner hanging in the Daily Planet that reads, "Daily Planet Benefit for Coates Home for Children." This may be a tribute to Phyllis Coates, who played Lois Lane during the first season of The Adventures of Superman opposite George Reeves. She also appeared in the first season L&C episode "The House of Luthor" as Ellen Lane, Lois's mother. Edit
