Show Summary

Longford is a biographical crime drama from HBO Films that was written by Peter Morgan and directed by Tom Hooper that is inspired by the real life events of British Lord Frank Pakeham, the 7th Earl of Longford (Jim Broadbent) who is known for his work with prisoners and their rights. The film centers around Longford and chronicles his unorthodox relationship with Myra Hindley (Samantha Morton) an accomplice in the murders of several British children in the 1960's. Longford who has already gone through multiple transformations in his life, was inspired by and took it upon himself to help the disenfranchised citizens who were forgotten in the prison systems and encouraged their rehabilitation. However, this particular case was a shock to several people including his wife Lady Elizabeth Longford (Lindsay Duncan). When Longford's visit were made public, Prime Minister Harold Wilson removed Longord from the Government Leader in the House of Lords. Even when her campaign to be released from parole was denied and he learned about other murders that took place, Longford stood by his convictions and never held any remorse about the worked he had done over the yeas.moreless
