  • Pam Gates, the wife of an army sergeant living in Korea, finds that American prejudices do not always translate into Korean standards.

This episode is about prejudice, not only American prejudice but Army prejudice against the Koreans during the Korean conflict. The Loretta Young Show writers cleverly use a small Korean boy to get the point across. The little boy helps Lady, (Pam Gates played by Loretta), and she in turn helps Mr. Smith, (Kim-ko played by George Matsui). When things turn up missing, Lady has no choice but to believe her husband when he warns her that the Koreans are thieves. The tables are turned when the missing articles reappear with beautiful embroidery done by the little boy's family. Even then, the Army believes it's a ploy on the Koreans' part. But, the final point is made when the articles prove to be only for Mr. and Mrs. Gates. Good episode. Once again, I learned a little history.moreless
