  • Josh Holloway

    James "Sawyer" Ford

    8.7
Just like Sawyer, his famous brooding bad boy character on Lost, American actor Josh Holloway is a stubborn survivor from the South. It may have taken Josh nearly a decade before being recognized onscreen, but his hard work and perseverance has surely paid off. Being part of the popular ABC ensemble show raised Holloway's status from virtual anonymity to television stardom. Josh was born to Scottish parents in a California region now known as Silicon Valley, but when he was two, his family settled in a rural northern Georgia trailer park 75 miles outside Atlanta. He completed his early education at Marie Tesley middle school and Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia. Josh attended University of Georgia, but only after a year, he dropped out due to financial reasons. He instead began a career in modeling, which gave him the opportunity to travel throughout North America and Europe. Holloway then decided to move to Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting profession. In 1993, Josh appeared as a purse snatcher in the Aerosmith music video for "Cryin'". Several years would pass before he would make his television debut as the "Good Looking Guy" in a 1999 episode of Angel. During the next five years, Holloway took on small independent film projects which included Cold Heart (2001), Moving August (2002), and Dr. Benny (2003). While finding his stride professionally, Josh kept a development company in Georgia and a French-Vietnamese restaurant in Los Angeles. At one point, Holloway almost gave up on his dream in exchange for a more financially viable career in real estate. But days after receiving his license as a real estate agent, he landed the part of James "Sawyer" Ford on the J.J. Abrams sci-fi drama Lost. Early on in the series, Josh's character was known as the guy with the toughest of exteriors but who had a soft spot for Kate Austen (played by Evangeline Lilly), who like him had a shady and colorful past. Aside from his penchant for taking his shirt off, Sawyer was also famous for his wisecrack remarks and monikers for his island co-inhabitants. In June 2010, Holloway won a Saturn Award for "Best Actor on Television" for his role on Lost and in September 2010, he was added to the cast of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. When he stopped shooting the pilot of Lost in Hawaii, he proposed to his girlfriend, Yessica Kumala. They later married on October 1, 2004. On April 9, 2009, they had their first child, Java Kumala.moreless
  • Evangeline Lilly

    Kate Austen

    9.3
Evangeline's combination of irresistible charm and natural talent is earning her a reputation as one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood. She was discovered by a Ford agent on the streets of Kelowna, BC, but passed up an offer to sign with the agency. While acting had been a dream of hers since she was a teenager, she abandoned the notion for the more aesthetic dream of working in international relations. Six months later Lilly moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia and decided to sign with Ford to help pay for tuition. After appearing in a few commercials, she decided to give up acting and focus on studying. A couple of years later, a friend urged her to give acting another shot and, after a role in Kingdom Hospital, Lilly caught the acting bug. She founded and ran a world development and human rights committee at her university. She has lived under a grass hut in the jungles of the Philippines with a missionary group, and has been a volunteer for children's projects since the age of 14. • Jeff Fahey

Frank Lapidus (Season 6, recurring in Seasons 4 & 5)

    9.0
Jeff Fahey was born on November 29, 1952, in Olean, New York. He was the 6th child of a family of thirteen children (eight boys and five girls). Despite the large difference in ages, the family was always a close one.

When Jeff was seventeen years old, after graduating from high school, he began traveling extensively. His travels took him to Alaska, Europe, Israel, India, the Himalayas and Afghanistan. His great range and diversity as an actor may well be a direct result of his traveling days, as he lived and learned of the life and cultures of the vast diversity of people wherever he traveled, working his way around by taking odd jobs at different locations.

When Jeff was in his early twenties he returned to the States where he successfully experimented with a wide variety of employment opportunities which included working as a vacuum cleaner salesman, selling encyclopedias, as a trainer in a health club, and teaching ballroom dancing. At the age of twenty five, while he worked as a ballroom dancing teacher he was invited to attend the ballet. He applied and won a full scholarship to dance with the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. It was while he was dancing that he learned the importance of utilizing his entire body to tell a story, and not to rely only on a tone of voice or change in facial features to express his thoughts and emotions. The Joffrey Ballet led to stage roles, first in the chorus, then in more and increasingly longer speaking roles. An accident in London necessitated Jeff to return home prematurely. Jeff remained, as ever, undaunted. A few weeks later, in 1982, he landed his first major television role, as Gary Corelli in the popular daytime soap opera One Life To Live.

From 1982 to 1985, Jeff lived and enjoyed the life of a daytime soap idol. In 1985, Jeff's big break came. He was offered his first major big-screen role, as Deputy Tyree in Silverado. From his first break in Silverado in 1984, and continuing to the present day, he has never experienced a lull in his acting career. Calling himself a "jobber actor", Jeff makes around four or five films per year, selecting his parts according to the needs he wishes to fulfill inside himself. Once it might be a place in the world he has never seen (Dazzle), another time it might be an actor he would like to work with (Robert Mitchum), or he might want the experience of working with a female director to understand a role from a different point of view (Sandra Locke). In 1994, Jeff had the opportunity to star in a weekly television series, The Marshal, produced by his close friend, and acting colleague, Don Johnson. Jeff has said that more than any other vehicle he had acted in to date, his own personality, values, and feelings become encompassed in the character that was to evolve, and emerge, as Winston MacBride. Unique in its concept, the show starred only Jeff, as he liked to say in interviews at the time, one man, one hour. It was a show which showcased the talent of a very versatile actor well. Once the series ended (after two seasons) Jeff continued to make around four or five films a year, and became a big celebrity in European markets. Never one to wait for life to catch up to his aspirations and goals, Jeff now added producing to his resume, bringing the experience of years to his movie rolls and projects. Continuing to seek out roles that would allow him to stretch the bounds of his own individuality, he has always remained faithful to the inner voices that urges him to explore the multiplicity of the human condition in all of its varied manifestations. His movies, therefore, represent an extremely eclectic mixture of type and content, as Jeff has repeatedly accepted the challenge of portraying multiple personas that are living and reacting to a variety of life and experiences.moreless

  • Cynthia Watros

    Libby (Season 2, recurring otherwise)

    8.7
Cynthia Watros (born September 2, 1968 in Lake Orion, Michigan) is an American actress. She initially became known for her role as Annie Dutton on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light from 1994 to 1998. Watros' character began as a heroine, but she gained notice and critical acclaim when her character's rivalry with Reva Shayne (played by Kim Zimmer) led her to become a scheming villianess. In 1998, Watros won a Daytime Emmy Award as "Outstanding Lead Actress" for her role on Guiding Light. Watros has had a complicated history with Guiding Light co-star Kim Zimmer. Zimmer and Watros met when they co-starred in an off-Broadway show, "Four Dogs and a Bone" by John Patrick Shanley. Although there is no long-standing rivalry, working in close quarters apparently caused a serious rift between them when they both appeared on Guiding Light. In particular, a physical altercation between the two actors was captured on tape during filming of a Guiding Light episode. Watros overcame a serious disease as a teenager; she was diagnosed with Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, an autoimmune disease of the blood. It required several years of chemotherapy and a splenectomy. In an interview in the Season 3 DVD of Titus, she stated that she had lost her hair and gained over 100 pounds as a result of this disease. In 1998, Watros briefly filled in for Jensen Buchanan as Victoria Hudson McKinnon on Another World while Buchanan was on maternity leave. Watros is married to Curtis Gilliland and has twin daughters, Emma Rose and Sadie Anna (born July 14, 2001). She is also known for her TV role as Erin Fitzpatrick on Titus from 2000 to 2002 and Kellie Newmark on The Drew Carey Show from 2002 to 2004. On Titus, she broke through as a comedic actress, playing the real-life fiance of the title character. According to the DVD commentary, Erin was originally supposed to be more like Tommy in the series (worrysome, neurotic), and Tommy was supposed to be more like how Erin was (strong, supportive). The characters' personality changes were made a week before the pilot was shot. After Titus was canceled, she took on the role of Kellie Newmark on "The Drew Carey Show," as a replacement for the departure of Christa Miller. As a welcoming gesture, Drew Carey sent flowers to her on a weekly basis. In 2005 she was cast on the popular ABC series Lost as psychologist Libby, a member of the "Tailies", a group of survivors of the plane crash who were in the tail section of the plane (and not seen during Season One). Watros and her Lost co-star Michelle Rodriguez were each pulled over and arrested on the morning of December 1, 2005 in Kailua, Hawaii, where Lost is filmed. Both actresses were charged with drunk driving. At trial, Watros plead guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and go into counseling.moreless
