Signs from the second season point to a definite yes, that was Locke's father, but you can never be 100% certain with this show.

But think about it, why would the show's writers lie about something like that? It wouldn't bring anything new to the characters that wasn't there already. Maybe a five minute scene where Locke flips out and kills that kidney stealing S.O.B, but then you'd wonder how this is the same Locke we know now.

I thought that once that might not even be his Dad, but it probably is just a little conspiracy theory

It's definitly his dad, thats how they knew he would be able to donate his kidney without rejection.

exactly, why would a stranger want locke's kidney. the only reason his dad even talked to locke was to get at the kidney he knew his body would be least likely to reject (because it contains some of his dna already).

but like another poster said, i don't see how him not being locke's father would at all contribute to the plot.

Well he was rich so could find out who matched his DNA, and then maybe he saw Locke in the most vulnerable state?

No amount of money would buy you information on the DNA profile of someone who'd never given a DNA sample. They explained the scenario pretty well: Locke's father knew about the baby and had maintained some contact all along with Locke's mother (giving her money and such.) When he realized he needed a kidney from a matched donor and would likely die waiting passively for one from the organ donor list, he bribed her to find Locke and get him interested in researching his past. It was a gamble that he'd do enough digging to find his dad and it paid off.
