Goof: At the end, when Sayid comes back to life, he doesn't have his Iraqi accent, he has Naveen Andrews' native British accent.
When Jack is successful in reviving Charlie, his first words are "Am I alive?". This is the same message actor Dominic Monaghan had scrawled on his palm in black marker that he held up to the audience at Comic Con 2009. Though the two are not related.
The airplane used for Oceanic Flight 815 has originally been known for being a Boeing 777. However, in LA X(1) the plane that features Flight 815 arriving at the gate is an Airbus A330.
Boone is sitting in the same row as Locke. This was not the case in the original flight.
In Jack's flashback in "Pilot" he tells Rose "it's normal" after turbulences hit. This time, she says it to him.
In "Pilot", Cindy hands Jack 2 bottles of vodka when he comments about his drink not being strong. In this episode, she only gives him one bottle.
Hurley has clearly gotten over his fear of blood as evidenced by his tending to Sayid's wounds.
When Sawyer finds Juliet at the Swan site, her hands move into various positions between shots, though she is obviously unconscious at the time.
The Swan implosion crater is very different from previous versions in past seasons. It is much wider, less deep, easier to get into, and has a pile of junk in the center where the anomaly attracted it.
As of this episode, Jack and Kate are the only character to appear in every season premier of the series.
Sayid's passport, shown at LAX, is an Iranian passport instead of being Iraqi.
The flashback "whoosh" is different this season. It is similar to the time flashes of season 5.
Jacob: Your friend, Jin, won't be able to see me.
Hugo: Why not?
Jacob: Because I died an hour ago.
Hugo: Sorry dude. That sucks.

This is the first episode to begin the opening credits with "An ABC STUDIOS PRODUCTION". This is now becoming a standard for all ABC shows.
Greg Grunberg is heard as pilot Seth Norris.
Boone explains why Shannon is not on the plane. Originally, Shannon was set to make an appearance, but Maggie Grace turned down the producer's offer. Thus, the backstory was rewritten to accommodate this.
This episode features three former regulars: Elizabeth Mitchell, Dominic Monaghan and Ian Somerhalder.
Like Cynthia Watros and Malcolm David Kelley before them, they are not credited as special guest stars.
Emilie de Ravin rejoins the main cast. Nestor Carbonell, Jeff Fahey and Zuleikha Robinson are promoted to main cast. While Henry Ian Cusick was not named a member of the main cast prior to the episode's airing, he is credited with them.
"Crocodile" Dundee: Boone compares Locke to the main character of this 1986 Australian comedy film set in the Australian Outback.
Amelia Earhart: Sawyer calls the flight attendant "Earhart", a reference to Amelia Earhart, a pilot who went missing over the central Pacific Ocean during a circumnavigational flight.
Haroun and the Sea of Stories: Desmond is reading this book by British Indian writer Salman Rushdie. It is an eerie story set in a city so old and ruinous that it can't remember its name.
Earth X: The "X" in 'LA X' stands for an alternate reality. It's common use in comic books, Marvel Comics have an alternate history/timeline called "Earth X".
This in addition being an obvious nod to the fact that LAX is the code name for the Los Angeles International Airport.
