Continuity: In flashback, Ana-Lucia is seen at the airport just before she boards the plane. She is wearing a white top under her jacket but just after she crashes, as shown in 'The Other 48 Days' she is clearly wearing her trademark black vest.
Michael shooting himself to allow a prisoner to escape is the same tactic employed by Sayid when he shot himself to allow Nadia to escape.
Libby comments to Hurley that she thinks they are lost because they keep passing the same trees in the jungle on the way to their picnic. It is interesting to note that the Producers of Lost have stated that they keep using the same stretches of jungle over and over in their taping of scenes of the Island - they just shoot the scenes from different angles to make it look like the characters are travelling through different areas of the jungle.
The name of the ferry shown in the harbor is "Illuviuv." If we convert the "u"s to "v"s and the "l"s to "i"s, then add the numbers together, in Roman Numerals we have the total of 24. 24 is the sum of 8 and 16, which are two of "The Numbers."
Ana Lucia has a cut on her head from when the fake Henry Gale tries to kill her. When she talks to Michael, her cut is gone.
We see Michael shooting 4 times:
-Once to Ana Lucia.
-Twice to Libby.
-Once to himself.
4 is one of "The Numbers".
Since people drive on the left side of the road in Australia, all the steering wheels in the flashbacks had to be on the right side for continuity purposes. Instead of using appropriate vehicles, the crew just flipped all the letters on the signs and reversed the negatives in editing.
Island events in this episode take place on November 23rd and November 24th 2004.
Continuity: After Michael shoots Libby, the first wide shot shows her blood running very fast and it travels a distance from her body. In the next wide shot, when you see her body again, the blood is still and has not traveled as far as in the previous shot.
Factual error: When Ana-Lucia goes into the safe to shoot Henry, she draws her pistol and flips her thumb in a downward motion, as if to take the safety off. However the Beretta 92, like most pistols, would require the shooter to flip up to take the safety off.
While driving to the house where Christian's daughter lives, he and Ana-Lucia are listening to Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight". Patsy Cline is Kate's favorite singer, and she even played the same song on the record player in the hatch.
Christian named Ana Lucia Sarah, which is the name of Jack's ex-wife.
Ana Lucia chose the name Tom for Christian, which is the name of Kate's love.
Christian is the reason that both Ana Lucia and Jack are in Australia and eventually on the doomed plane.
After Libby leaves Hurley to go get blankets for their picnic, Hurley notices Jin watching, and Jin shows Hurley the thumbs up sign. In a past episode Hurley showed Jin the same thumbs up sign at the beginning of "What Kate Did" when Sun was hugging Jin from behind.
Ana-Lucia leaves Christian at the bar where he meets Sawyer shortly before he dies.
All of the "numbers" can be seen on the police cars, 4 8 15 16 23 and 42.
In a similar fashion to past episodes, Christian Shepard and Ana-Lucia cross paths with several other survivors in her flashback sequences. Christian strikes Sawyer with the car door while trying to convince her to join him at the bar. Ana-Lucia then later runs into both Jack and Jin while waiting in line to check in at the airport.
Michael: I'm sorry.
Ana Lucia: For what?. (Michael shoots Ana Lucia) (Libby enters)
Libby: Michael? (Michael shoots Libby twice)
Ana-Lucia: He tried to kill me today so I wanted him dead. I couldn't do it. I couldn't even kill him. I looked at him and he … I can't do this anymore.
Sawyer: What is your problem, Doc?!
Jack: It's time to give us the guns back.
Sawyer: You burn the ending of my book and now you want ...
Locke: Where are they, James?
Sawyer: You too, Brutus?
Christian: She is a very long story, Sarah.
Ana: It's Ana-Lucia.
Christian: Well, I'm still Tom.
Ana: You're pathetic, that's what you are.
Sayid: Well, it worked only once and then just for a minute. I've tried several times since and only gotten static.
Hurley: Here's the thing, even that would be good because then Libby would be like, "it's the thought that counts" - and I'll score major points. Especially when she sees me holding it over my head.
Sayid: And why would you hold a static generating radio over your head?
Hurley: They didn't have Say Anything in Baghdad? It's awesome. This dude, like, gets his boom box and he holds it over his head outside this chick's window and he plays some Peter Gabriel song for her and bam, the girl's, like, his. I mean, after her dad goes to jail. But then he gets her.
Sayid: I think I get the idea.
Hurley: You should really check it out sometime. I mean, if we ever, you know, get off this island.
Ana: How about you just give me a gun?
Sawyer: Here's another idea, scram! You heard me, now get.
Ana: I need a gun.
Sawyer: Well, here's an idea, why not go to your buddy, Jack? He's got himself a gun. Oh, that's right, he's still traipsing around the jungle with Kate.
Henry: None of this matters. I'm dead anyway. The doctor's gone to make a trade and we both know he'll come back empty-handed and then I've lost my value. So either Jack comes back here and kills me or my people find out where I'm being held and they do it.
Locke: Why would your own people want to kill you?
Henry: Because the man in charge, he's a great man, John, a brilliant man... but he's not a forgiving man. He'll kill me because I failed, John. I failed my mission.
Henry: If you've come to apologize, I forgive you for hitting me with your crutch. I'm so glad my head didn't break it.
Henry: Now that's a broad question.
Christian: Oh, let's not use real names. I'll tell you what, why don't you pick a name for me and then I'll pick one for you.
Ana: You look like a Tom.
Christian: Tom, what an excellent name. And you should be a ... Sarah.
Ana: How long are you going to keep up this hunger strike, Henry? I ever tell you I was a cop? I've been around a lot of killers in my life. You know what surprises me most about them? How much they love to talk. But you're different, Henry, Quiet.
Michael: I found them. After I left, I hiked north, back to where we were, hiked to the beach, followed the shore line. A day later, I saw one
Locke: What did he look like?
Michael: Dirty, worn clothing, no shoes, simple. Just like the rest of them.
Jack: Like the rest of them?
Michael: Yeah his people, the Others. I followed him back to his camp. They, they live in tents, canvas tents and teepees. They eat dried fish. They're worse off than we are.
Kate: How many of them were there?
Michael: I counted 22.
Jack: And the, the boat?
Michael: I didn't see it.
Jack: Did you see Walt?
Michael: No, but I know he's there.
Ana Lucia: What about everyone else they took? Cindy? Did you see any other kids?
Michael: No, no. No kids, no. But I think they were in the same place as my boy. They have a hatch.
Jack: How do you know that they...
Michael: There's a set of metal doors, leading underground. What else could it be?
Jack: And you think that's where they keep the kids?
Michael: They keep it guarded 24-7 and two guards, two guns. And two guns is all I saw. They're barely armed. Most of them are old and half of them are women. I wanted...I couldn't save him. So I came back to tell you. Tell you that we can take them. As soon as I get my strength back, I will take us back there, and we are gonna get my boy back.
(looking at the cut on Ana Lucia's head)
Jack: What happened here?
(Locke, sitting on the couch, interupts before Ana Lucia can respond)
Locke: My fault. I left the tap on in the bathroom sink, and Ana wiped out and hit her head on the counter. And I'm sorry, again.
Ana Lucia: Yeah. Don't worry about it
(talking about the Others)
Jack: These people are liars, John. Why the hell should we take their word on anything?
Hurley: Here we are, the most secret beach on the island.
Libby: Hurley this is our beach, there's Jin.
Libby: Hey there!
Hurley: (putting food in his bag) Ohh!
Libby: How's it going?
Hurley: This isn't what it looks like.
Libby: And... what does it look like?
Hurley: (slowly) It looks like something...that...it's not.
Henry Gale: (to Ana-Lucia) You killed two of us, good people who were leaving you alone. You're the killer, Ana-Lucia.
Henry: Goodwin. He told us all about you, how he thought you were worthy, how he could change you... but he was wrong, and it cost him his life.
Ana Lucia: He was going to kill me.
Henry: Was he?
Sawyer: (talking about Kate) What'd you bring her along for, a sympathy vote? She ain't in my head, Doc, so why don't you two go play in the jungle?
Jack: Sawyer, put the book down.
Sawyer: It's not a book, it's a manuscript. I'm about to be the first and only guy to find out who done it. I think I got it figured out. So cool your damn jets and walk around the coconut trees. I got like ten pages left. (Jack rips manuscript away from him) Hey!
Libby: Hey, I think I saw Rose and Benard with a bottle of wine earlier, why don't you go and get some?
Hurley: Wine. Groovy. Hey, maybe if I get drunk enough I'll remember where I know you from.
Sawyer: Hey, I've been knockin' those things down for 20 minutes. Get your hands off my damn mangos!
Ana Lucia: I didn't figure you for the fruit-picking type.
Captain Cortez: You're a police officer Ana. If you don't respect me, at least respect that.
(Sawyer stares at Ana Lucia after having sex)
Sawyer: Don't you want my phone number?
Ana: You tell anyone about this and I'll kill you. (She exits)
Mr Shepard: How does one start wanding?
Ana Lucia: One stops being a cop.
Mr Shepard: What a concidence. I just stopped being a Doctor.
(Locke saves Ana Lucia from Henry)
Locke: I guess he decided to start talking, huh?
Ana Lucia: (to Sawyer) If you're mad that Jack's spending too much time with your girlfriend, don't take it out on me.
John: Why did you try to hurt Ana-Lucia but not me?
Henry: Because you're one of the good ones John.
Ana Lucia: This is what you need protection for? The suburbs?
Shepard: Just stay in the car.
Ana Lucia: Should I keep the meter running?

Even though they are credited Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko), Emilie de Ravin (Claire), Yunjin Kim (Sun), and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) do not appear in this episode.
When this episode originally aired, a mock commercial for Hanso Foundation was played during one of the commercial breaks. It gave a phone number to call for more info about the Hanso Foundation. The phone number (1-877-HANSORG)gives clues about many aspects of what is going on on the island.
There are variations on what information you receive when calling so you may want to dial in more than once (it's free). The phone number gives a secret password that can be used at www.thehansofoundation.org. When the password is used at the right place on the website, you will (after some exploring and logical reasoning) receive information about the origin of the virus that has been discussed in many episodes.
The website also tells us about a DHARMA project that uses numbers to make a variety of predictions. It doesn't give much info, but sounds like a good basis for clues about "the numbers" that have been floating about for a long time now.
Some of the footage from the Sydney airport, where Jack tries to get his father's body released, is recycled footage from the season one episode "White Rabbit." The scene where they show Ana Lucia waiting in line was an additional shoot to the whole scene for the episode. They are shot almost two years apart from each other.
This is the first episode to feature a clue for "The Lost Experience", a worldwide internet game experience based on the show. Other countries, who are behind the US (like Australia), received the clue during an earlier episode, which aired around this time.

Midnight Cowboy: When Christian opens his car door, Sawyer runs into it and calls out, "I'm walkin' here!" This is a famous quote from this 1969 movie.
Little Red Riding Hood: When Sawyer catches Ana Lucia sneaking around, he asks if Little Red Riding Hood is going to follow the Big Bad Wolf back to his stash of guns. This refers to the famous folk-tale about a young girl's encounter with a wolf.
Libby: Well, did you ever notice how Fred would run past the same thing over and over again? Third time past this tree.
Libby is referring to Fred Flintstone constantly going past the same scenery over and over, which was Hanna Barbera's cost-cutting method of repeating/reusing backgrounds repeatedly, as evidenced in The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Where Are You? and others.
Sawyer: (after Locke asks him for the guns) You too, Brutus?
This is similar to Julius Caesar's last words, "Et tu, Brute?" in Shakespeare's famous tragedy play about him. The phrase is Latin for "You too, Brutus", which Casear says after being betrayed by his best friend.
