    The Good:

    -"Small plane..."

    -The depictions of airport people.

    The Bad:

-The joke about the plane crash isn't well delivered, so it seems too dark.

-This episode is less relevant to a wide audience than its preceding episodes.

Another abysmal attempt at dark comedy that leaves the viewer feeling sour not just on Louis CK, but on the state of comedy in general if this man is regarded so highly. Louie (that's right Louis CK thinks he is Bob Newhart and his name must be in the title of every show) is an unimaginative, unfunny half hour of television that feels more like cruel and unusual punishment than good viewing.

You cannot have a show with just one character; it just does not work. Seinfeld had Kramer, Frasier has Niles, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air had Carlton, Arrested Development had Gob. Even Curb Your Enthusiasm, the show this is trying to emulate has a supporting cast.

Check your ego at the door Louis CK. It is not even like your shows that you know are going to fail are good. This is performing poorly and is rubbish. Bring in some castmembers.moreless
  • Still pretty good.

Yep. It's still kind of funny and kind of uncomfortable and hard to watch at the same time. Each episode does feel like a protracted single joke, though, perhaps a quick stand up routine dramatized to the point where it needs absurdist exaggeration just to convey the sharp commentary.

But that's alright. There are proper sitcoms out there people can go watch instead. And I'm sure they will at some point, but this season is still pretty decent TV and it will make for a great DVD set that I will give to friends in birthdays just to watch their horrified reaction to some of the material.

For the record, I know this isn't a forum, but... who watches five episodes in a row of a series they obviously detest beyond words, all the while taking the time to write a detailed review with in-depth behind the scenes info and acutal advice about how to make it better? Is it some kind of reverse psychology meta marketing? I don't get it.

Any way, pretty funny, highly quotable, deeply flawed, totally worth it if you're into that kind of thing. Works better if you Tivo it and pause it when it all becomes too much, pretend that you need to go to the bathroom, take a deep breath then come back.moreless
