Episode Summary

Make Doom for Daddy
After Nicholas collapses, his doctor, Fielding, says it wasn't a fainting spell, but a stress episode. To find out what's causing it, Dr. Fielding hooks Nicholas up to a stress meter. The meter doesn't go off once during Nicholas' hectic day at work, but it beeps off the hook once Nicholas gets home. Fielding's studies conclude that the bulk of the stress is being caused by a combination of Eamon and Nicky. Worrying that a heart attack is next, Nicholas tries to cure his problem by spending time with Eamon and Nicky to get to know them better and, hopefully, find something to like about them. Easier said than done...moreless

      • On May 24, 2001 (rebroadcast December 7, 2001), CBS aired Funny Flubs & Screw-Ups 6, which includes a blooper from, all things, this. How nice of CBS -- to allow a blooper from an episode they never broadcast for a series they never wanted! Make sure to thank them for their generosity! For those curious, the clip was from the scene where Nicholas and Nicky are in the office arguing about Nicky's lack of goals. In the final take used, Nicky storms out of the office and Nicholas follows, leaving the door wide open. In the "funny flub & screw-up" take, Nicky storms out of the office and Nicholas follows, attempting to shut the door behind him -- only to have it bounce back open.

      • This episode was promoted on-air during the week of October 17, 1999. (It ran after a promo for Kids Say the Darndest Things with the tagline "In times of crisis, the rich say the darndest things.") The first time the editor looked at listings for October 22, "The Music Box" was scheduled, but unless CBS accidentally mixed up promos, "Make Doom for Daddy" had a third airdate it didn't make it to.

      • Originally scheduled to air on October 29, 1999, and rescheduled to air on July 25, 2000.
