      • Lovejoy: (to camera) You could argue, I suppose, that I've done a few shady deals in the past, so it all equals out. But you didn't have to spend eight months here, sleeping next to a tattooed biker called Mavis. I read a lot, I started writing a book on stones. Mostly, I wondered who set me up. Now, I'm not thinking about revenge, I'm wondering if there is any money involved, and if so where's mine?

      • Lovejoy: (to camera) About a week after I met Miss Holland in Kings Leigh. She called me. Asked me to drive over to Oxfordshire. She had a business proposition and was sure the trip would be worth my while.

      • Seymour:Oh, I don't know, I think you can still be surprised after seventeen years of marriage. It was all rather unexpected, really. I simply said to my wife one day "Look, what would you really like for your birthday?" She said "How about a divorce?" And I said I wasn't planning to spend that much money.

      • Lovejoy: (to camera) Next day I was in Belgium. After the customary nightmare trip on the British ferry full of crying babies and vomiting yobs.

      • Jane: Well, Lovejoy, people do go to prison to be punished. It seems inappropriate that they play tennis.
Lovejoy: If it's any consolation, we didn't have ball boys, it was a desperate court. In fact, when I get some money I'm going to donate a net.

      • Lovejoy: (to camera) Do you believe this? Lovejoy, banged up. Wrongly, as it happens.

      • Lovejoy: (to camera) I don't think that came out quite the way she meant it. (receives a cup of tea) Ooh! Thank you. I have enjoyed these quiet afternoons. Surrounded by nice people, talking about their high ranges and swopping their chutney recipes. Makes a welcome change to the conniving, back-stabbing alcoholics that populate the antique trade.
