  • Maurice de Bevere and the recreation of the four Daltons. After the historic Dalton-brothers Morris created their Cousins who are well known to everyone who reads or watch Lucky Luke

    8.5
The French-Belgian comic artist Morris started with Lucky Luke in 1946. His idea in the beginning was just to make a sketch for a future movie (he needed to wait for that until 1971). In 1954, making the sixth comic book, he decided to let historical characters appear and to tell historical events. He choose the Daltons and particular the Coffeyville-raid. His version of the story refers to only four of them, Bob and Grat (both died during or immediately after the raid), Bill (he wasn’t in the raid got shot in 1895) and Emmet (survived the raid, died in 1937). In his version they are the four members of the gang and all four of them die in Coffeyville. Morris expressed the Daltons very dangerous and clever, Bob shoots faster than gravity (that was long before Lucky Luke shoots faster than his shadow). The comic book got published, soon afterwards Morris got lots of response. The four brothers in different sizes become a success, people liked them. Morris felt forced in creating more adventures with them. He choose an unusual option and created with a similar appearance the four Cousins, Joe, Jack, William and Averell Dalton, thus he had much more freedom to write stories about these. Like Lucky Luke the Cousins aren’t bound in time and appear in the last four decades of the 19th century. In their first comic adventures they appear more funny but still dangerous. In later adventures they are just stupid. In 1971 the first movie with Lucky Luke and the Daltons came out. In 1983 the first TV-series, from 2002 on French-Canadian episodes (in Europe “The new adventures of Lucky Luke”, since the older 52 animated adventures are well known in that area) which aren’t based anymore on comic books by Morris (he died in 2001- god bless him, he made so many, many wonderful comic books).moreless
  • The newest series of our Poor Lonesome Cowboy are very brillant. That's also the last idea before the Morris' death in 2001

    9.2
Who one person in the Earth has never heard about Lucky Luke? I don't know, but the cowboy shoot most speed than his shadow is back in The New Adventures of Lucky Luke. A new and most modern adptation of the comic-book. The first time that i heard that a new series with Lucky Luke appeared (i think it's in 1999), i fearing the worst because i think we're have a another low adptation of a huge popular comic-book but this time, no. We have a great adaptation respect really the mean of the comic-book. Because French are the original version, Antoine DeCaunnes are a brillant and magnificent work to voiced Lucky Luke in the newest series. The voice of Rantanplan, made by Francis Perrin are awesome and success to make solid quotes for a general audience.

The animation of the series are superb and we're see that Xilam pay very expensive for realise this great project and that's right. The characters designs not lose details much the style than personallity. Damage that the series contain just 52 episodes.

The New Adventures of Lucky Luke is a admirable cartoon show and one of most best than i watch during the last mood yearsmoreless
