AIRED:
It's almost time for the school's culture festival. While the girls are preparing for their classes' themes for the festival, Patricia proposes that she and the girls in her class should do a cheerleading act for the opening ceremony of the festival. Patricia "persuades" Konata into performing the routine with her, who in turn gets Kagami, Tsukasa, Miyuki, Misao, and Ayano to do it as well. Akira Kogami finally makes an appearance on the actual show, although she and Shiraishi are still on bad terms. Before the opening ceremony, the girls practice the cheerleading act one last time to the song, "Motteke! Sailor Fuku!"moreless

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • "Dondake" vs. "Ikahodo"

Throughout the episode, the girls keep saying the phrases "Dondake" and "Ikahodo" as exclamatory phrases of sorts. "Dondake" is a slang term originated in the gay area of Shinjuku and was made popular by gay entertainer Ikko. Since then, the term soon became popular with high school girls and eventually the mass media, being used by other TV personalities as well as in TV dramas.

Recently (around the same time as this series' original airing), the term "Ikahodo" has appeared as a sort of "response" to the Japanese mainstream's quick appropriation of the previously underground "Dondake." While the two have essentially the same meaning, however, debate continues as to which is the more proper (read: "cooler") phrase to use.

The ending song by Minoru Shiraishi is "Ai wa Boomerang", which is the ending title theme for Urusei Yatsura (Movie 2) - Beautiful Dreamer.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
The outfit that Konata is wearing is the outfit Nagato Yuki, from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya wears when she was doing fortune tellings at school. Later she also states what Yuki says to one of her costumers.
