  • Neville Lytton worries about his new employer, a ruthless Australian billionaire.

Although there was no resemblance whatever between this series and reality, several characters or organizations depicted within it were clear approximations of actual people or things. Chief amongst these was the "Rabid Dingo", the tough Australian billionaire owner of Lytton's newspaper, who was meant to remind us of Rupert Murdoch (unflatteringly nicknamed "The Dirty Digger" by British journalists). However, the show ran pretty scared where Murdoch was concerned - John Stride, playing this new boss, looked nothing like Murdoch, was shown to be charismatic and terribly clever (but not in the least unscupulous) and would frequently make references to "Rupert" and what a good job he was doing.moreless
