MacGyver ushers in his benchmark 100th episode with a low-key but entertaining episode featuring the ongoing dogfight between law enforcement and the elusive and deadly Colombian drug cartel. The scam run by submarine distributor Nick on unsuspecting Phoenix sonar scientist Gwen Carpenter seems par for the course of what drug lords (or in this case, their proxies) engage in to unravel the weakest links of their opposition. Writers and producers should have waited a few more weeks to resurrect alter ego Dexter as the shtick wasn't quite as amusing as it could have been given that MacGyver had just played Dexter one week earlier. Nonetheless, it was entertaining comic relief in the middle of the episode. The rest of the episode was also fun, including MacGyver trapped in the leaky sinking submarine and the litany of obstacles Mac deployed on the boat as it was leaving the pier. Not the most groundbreaking episode of the season, but entertaining nonetheless....and it was nice reading some of the rare news stories that the media was finally forced to do in recognition of MacGyver's longevity. I remember how many publications expressed absolute shock that this series which they had ignored for five years was celebrating its 100th episode.moreless
