Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • While this episode is known for it's inclusion of "Alan Brady" the fictional character from the "Dick Van Dyke Show" which brings the two fictional universes together in in their respective realities. In the past there are at least two instances of Paul referencing to the antics of Dick Van Dyke's character in the show (in one instance the classic tripping over the ottoman from the opening sequence), laying out the idea that the actual show not the fictional show was the one that existed.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Lolly: Oh that Alan, was he cute! And young - I liked 'em young.
      Paul: WOW!
Lolly: Wow nothing. He was just like his act. Six minutes of great material, with no finish. (long pause)
Shea: That's just a bit more than I needed to know.

    • Paul: You're going to wear that?
      Jamie: Paul!
Paul: What? (as Jamie mimes) Two words ... First word ... sounds like.. duck! Second word ... (Jamie flicks the switch) off!

    • Jamie: So what's he like?
Paul: He's like him, but in color.

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • The bowling pin sketch: This refers back to a sketch Rob Petrie accidentally plagiarized in the Dick Van Dyke Show episode "If a Bowling Pin Talks - Don't Listen!"

    • Alan Brady: Alan Brady
Carl Reiner plays Alan Brady who is the same character who was the boss of Rob, Sally, and Buddy on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Also created by Carl Reiner.
