This three part episode was intended to be the last episode in the series (Hense the title "The Finale"). Paul Reiser's plan from the start of the show was to end the series on a high note with the announcement of Jamie's pregnancy. However, NBC convinced him to continue the show. A number of MAY fans have voiced the opinion that Reiser should have stuck to his guns and ended it here, marking this as the point when Mad About You 'jumps the shark'.
"Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Mad About You" are in a very long chain of cross-overs, so their universes are the same. However, Brad Garrett's characters in both shows are different.
When Paul goes to the refrigerator to get a soda, the line is, "Hospitals, as you know, are for sick people, and this is the act of a healthy, healthy man." But his lips don't match those words.
Also, there is a problem with the plot--if Paul had already made a "sample" he couldn't do the test again at the hospital on the same day.
When Paul and Jamie are sitting on the table eating while the other three men eat dinner, Paul and Jamie have an argument over the word "gyros".
Paul suggests that it is pronounced "g-y-u-ros" while Jamie says is "yiros". Jamie is the correct one as it is in fact pronounced "Yiros" (from the Greek word γύρος).
Paul's birthday is April 19th.
A short clip of the Beatles singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand plays as Yoko Ono enters.
