    • Theme from A Summer's Place by Percy Faith and his Orchestra is playing during Don and Bobbie's drive to the beach. A Summer's Place was a blockbuster 1959 film about forbidden love that starred Sandra Dee.

    • Don is briefly arrested and fined in New York for having a blood alcohol content of .15%. As of 1996, New York had lowered the allowable percentage; any blood alcohol content over .05% will initiate a criminal case.

    • Bobbie Barrett reads that Marilyn Monroe will make an appearance at Madison Square Garden to celebrate President John F. Kennedy's birthday. This a reference to Marilyn's infamous breathy and sexy rendition of "Happy Birthday" for the President.
