Currently the 2 reviews written by women don't paint a pretty picture. I'm sure we can guess why, without getting into it. Anyway, what do we really think about the show? I'm talking top-shelf ***** on display (and more), the convertible car ride, the attitude and the drama.

A quick look at the complaints tells me that some people don't get that with the period setting comes the dialog (and the plot), because this is the pre-internet era; when gangsters didn't go to high school to learn stories other than the frog and the scorpion (and sure as hell couldn't Google it).

Anyway I wished I were Stevie, fell in love with Olga Vera (just now, since her 007 was meh; especially after Casino Royal) and remembered when my dad sits down with me like Ike towards the end.

The "intro and the outro," dream and reality (?), awesome! I can't grade the show yet, until it has moved away from the pilot, but my preliminary one would be an easy 8-9.

I don't agree, I've watched movies, etc. from the '50s & earlier, I have no problems with those eras or dialogue from them. However, this was boring just like "Luck".

The show looks interesting from the commercial. I'll have to check it out sometime.

I watched the Pilot online the other day. I did move quite slowly through the exposition. I would have liked to see it move a little -- a little more tension in places. But the payoff is worth it. I think it will be quite interesting once the ball gets rolling. After the first episode, you see some of the dilemmas which will be ever present.

I think of Yoda telling Luke "Once you start down the dark path. . . Forever will it dominate your destiny". Only a geek like me could tie Star Wars to mobster shows, but there you go. I think the commonality is there. Ike is going to get into some situations out of which the only course of action is more dark deeds.

I watched and enjoyed the pilot. I think it needs more time to lets things unravel, like the dark path that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character took in the first episode. I like the Frank Sinatra thing as well. I know this show will get compared to Mad Men a lot, but thats ok... I still havent seen a single episode of that TV show. I look forward to the next episode.

I like the series more than Woomba. I thought he was very observant but a little harsh. I caught another anachronism when the DA told DA told Evan in episode 1-8 that he's "between a rock and a hard place" - not a common expression in the 50's. I posted that on moviemistakes.com but it was disallowed because the moderator found a usage of that phrase in 1921. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and never heard it. My other complaint is that given this is a series about the mob, the violence is too tame given other Starz series like Spartacus and Game of Thrones.
