Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi

Show Summary

"Bein' human, havin' your health…that's the most important thing." - Arumi Asahina Try telling that to twelve-year-old Sasshi Imamiya. He's lost his home, lost the toy collection that defined his very geekdom, and he's about to lose his best friend, Arumi. Reality is closing in on him. That is, until they discover that their neighborhood shopping district is actually a portal to a series of parallel existences. Reality decides to take a vacation – an extended vacation – as Arumi and Sasshi suddenly find themselves in a world sort of like their own… only not. And as they try to fight their way back to the real world, they'll face menacing mushrooms, big-breasted space pirates, killer kung-fu fighters, a tripped-out transvestite, a sorcerer who seems to be in some sort of midlife crisis… and that's just the beginning! They say there's no place like home, but this ain't exactly Oz, and it sure as heck ain't Kansas! Put the kids to bed, leave Toto with the neighbors and get ready to dive into the madcap, whacked-out world of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi! MSAA comes from GAINAX, makers of FLCL and Neon Genesis Evangelion and originally aired in Japan in April 2002. MSAA is a 13 episode series. Please note this guide is based on the dubbed version of the anime, however feel free to contribute info gathered from other versions. Air Info Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi airs on the Anime Unleashed block, however it is currently not scheduled for further repeats.moreless

I so dont understand this show from time to time and i only saw a few episodes but i love it! I started watching this show on the G4 channel when they still had anime on it. and i only got to watch a few of the episodes. i saw the first one a couple of times so i got to understanding it. It reminds me of Fooly Cooly but has more meaning and sense to it. i wish that they would bring it back cause it would so be one of my favorite animes. so ill wait until that day comes.moreless

This show is soooooo good it doesn't need a review ! AWESOME 10 all the way! but since I have to do the whole 100 words i'll say this. all d episodes , except 4 7 r awesomeness! they r funny and r filled with humor that everyone will get , well not d kids this is a "super happy fun time show" if you no what i mean. All the characters are dynamic and change at least a little when you have seen the whole series.and the one hitter lines that r in and out of the show like "look for my sasutaker while you're up there!" look for episode 4 if you don't get that!moreless
  • I loved this show. Interesting, fun, awesome.

This is a personal favorite, I love the work of Studio Gainax and Production I.G. This and FLCL are my favorite animes, probably my two favorite shows period. Dead Leaves by Production I.G. is my favorite anime movie. I love this, another anime that seems off the wall, but still tells the story of a boy growing up. The symbolism of the show, they keep ending up in parallel planes of existance, based on works of fiction. The actual story is the children have to accept the death of a loved one, but they can not do this, so they end up in another story.moreless
