Being constantly disturbed by a more hyperactive than usual Magnum, Higgins locks himself into his private quarters to resume his memoirs about an old military pal David Worth (Patrick McNee) whom Higgins encountered for the final time in 1976. The story moves back and forth from the mid 70s to "present", playing upon Worth's fading mental health, but simultaniously the rip roaring adventures he and Higgins get up to their hairlines in, as Worth, convinced he is Sherlock Holmes, gains great satisfaction from solving a murder. McNee showed up far to often on U.S. tv in the early to mid 80s as a Brit on demand type, here however, he excels himself, giving one of his most entertaining performances. The episode finishes back in 1984 with a heavy hearted Higgins revealing to Magnum that Worth had passed away a few weeks previously. Intellegently crafted and satisfying viewing.
