Each C-Ration in a World War 2 field ration kit had 1,100 calories.
The U. S. Army had several different designations for field rations in World War 2. Type A was freshly prepared meals at a base. Type B was food prepared by cooks in the field. Type C, Type D, and Type K were the combat rations that individual soldiers would carry.
The first military rations were given to soldiers in the Civil War and it was a hard biscuit called Hardtack.
