The military T-10 parachute's canopy is 35 feet wide.
One of the "smart bombs" developed by the military releases several canisters that release copper slugs at a predetermined point. The copper slugs cover a 30 square yard area - about 3 football fields.
Trebuchets could be fifty feet tall and weigh ten tons
R. Lee Ermey: The invention of the parachute back in 1797 was credited to James Blanchard who never used one himself, but legend has it that he proved the 'chute would work by pushing his dog out of a hot air balloon. Apparently what had not been invented yet was the Humane Society.
R. Lee Ermey: I asked the Mail Call supply sergeant to whip me up a little trebuchet and this is what he gave me, a little trebuchet. (it's a tiny version that flings cherry tomatoes) But check it out. (he fires a tomato) Hah, very very funny. But I got back to mister wise a** and told him I wanted something man sized! Something I could sink my teeth into!
R. Lee Ermey: Sit back down and shut your trap! It's time for Mail Call!
