    Parents, whether separated by death or divorce, could learn a lesson from this episode. Many times parents make decisions for the family based on their own happiness. Often times this results in “evil stepmother” or “red-headed stepchild” behaviors throwing the family off balance. Not only does Polly allow the girls a say in decisions, but the girls take this decision-making seriously. They ask questions...a lot of questions. When the Major and the girls cannot work it out, Polly steps in and forces them to. It is said a mother is the glue that holds the family together. This episode proves this theory.moreless
