The show starts with an intro to the Chinese team, and Kaylie is off being a little sourpuss in her home. Her father via Neil Jackson Sasha Man shows up and talks her into competing, and she eventually goes and becomes the moral leader of the team. Lauren is in a rough place as she is constantly torn between Kaylie and Carter. Friendship or desire? which will she choose? She also sprains her ankle during the meet, and it's Kaylie who wins gold on beam, Lauren's signature event. Kaylie even beats the top gymnast, who was a total jerk. I thought it was a nice touch to make the Chinese gymnast a super mean He Kexin. (everybody knows He Kexin is the nicest gymnast in the world. I wish she would guest on the show.) Emily is caught up in boy drama. Again and Again. She can't get over Damon, but she isn't allowed to have a boyfriend, not that that stops anyone. Even Payson, who was in a back brace made mushy lip sandwiches with Cody Longo. The drama with Damon is so blah blah, it's not important at all. Payson performed on bars and overcame her fear, the thing I want to see most is if she will win the next national championships like she hopes. The Ending: This show had a lot to live up to, considering the last finale was the best gymnast at the Rock breaking her back and losing the only thing she ever loved. The finale was instead Damon singing on the radio and Emily missing her chance to say goodbye. Wtf? That was nowhere near as powerful. Also, Carter hooks up with Lauren....again, instead of Kaylie. Pattern much? This was very unsatisfying because the ending was centered around romance instead of gymnastics. They could have done something so much more intense and dramatic, but they went for sappy goo goo ga ga boy drama. I do love how they had Emily loves Damon Kaylie and Lauren love Carter
And Payson loves Gymnastics. She is so great. I will watch next season, but I am not nearly as excited for it. The finale could have been better.
