  • Drama on the way to France

    8.5
Make It or Break It returned in form, but at times seemed way too formulaic. Even though the show has been on break for months it picked up in the next week so the same drama remained. Although I like the idea of Carter picking Lauren instead of Kaylie, I just hate Carter, his character is boring and his role in the girls relationship really devalues their friendship and makes it seem as if all girls should pick their boyfriend over a life-long friend. However the confrontation at the end was perfect and showed off Lauren's insecurity really well.

Emily's story line was pretty bland this episode and the ending montage was a little bit too corny for me at the end, Payson continued to relentless pursue her goals at any cost even thought it seems this time her cost will be her career and her future on the National team.

The most interesting part of this episode came from the girls landing a spot on the national team. As usual Sasha was right, but the girls didn't have the sense to listen to his wisdom. Payson and him had some nice moments, but she didn't listen as always. The role of Ellen (i think that's her name) was so interesting as she basically told the girls that she was on a power trip but she continued anyways. Her and Steve at the bar was the best scene of the episode because the really showed how business means more than passion sometimes. The fact that he is Emily's private donor was predictable but will cause some nice drama in the future.

And Chloe's mom finally looks as beautiful as the actress is, so all in all a good start to the new season.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • NGO: The National Gymnastics Organization of America, the gymnastics organization name used in Make It Or Break It. In real life it's called USA Gymnastics, but legally the show couldn't use the real organization's name.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Lauren: (to Emily) Cha-ching! Did you hear that? That's the sound of my father slipping money into your mother's G-string.

    • Payson: The Olympics is less than two years away. I have the rest of my life to be a woman, but right now all I want to be is a gymnast.

    • Payson: I'm not a fashion model--I'm an elite gymnast. Height is a serious handicap.

    • (Lauren is wearing a trenchcoat so no one knows she's only wearing underwear underneath)
Kaylie: Why are you wearing a trenchcoat? Is it raining outside?
      Lauren: No, I was chilly.
      (a minute later)
Emily: (to Lauren) Is it supposed to rain?
Lauren: (annoyed) How should I know?!

    • Chloe: So, Steve, I would appreciate it if you'd keep your money in your pocket.
Steve: Okay, I will keep my money in my pocket...

Tsukuhara - A vault where the gymnast does a half-turn between jumping off the springboard and hitting the vault table.

    • This is the 1st episode of the 2nd season. Many people think this is actually the 1st episode of the 3rd season because of the long break between episodes 10 ("All That Glitters") and 11 ("The Eleventh Hour"), which was a mid-season break for season 1.
