  • Prom night! The previews over-hyped it a little, but it had its moments.

Okay, so this episode is Prom night at Payson's new high school. She is the newest member of the prom committee as all of the other lassies quit. Only note on this, the portrayal of the Swiss doctor was a little crude. They went for too many European stereotypes, and she seemed Swedish not Swiss. Again, the last 5 minutes were the best of the show.

It's so easy to sympathize with Payson because she is person who lost the only thing she ever wanted or had...then as soon as she moves on and gets a chance to put it behind all comes back and she's in limbo again about whether or not she can compete or not. At least their was some interesting conflict and new development with the Emily and her boys story arch, and Carter and Lauren might be taking another major step. Again, I want to see the next episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • The time line is messed up in this episode. Proms are usually held in May or June ,but the last episode was Valentines Day, so in reality it should still be February.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Mark: We're her parents. It's our job to protect her. In this case, what she doesn't know can't hurt her.

    • (the girls are helping Heather with the prom decorations...and failing miserably)
Payson: I'm sorry, Heather, we're not super-crafty. This is new to us.
Heather: That's okay. I can't do a cartwheel, so...let's put these in the "maybe" pile till you get the hang of it.

    • Lauren: We're going to prom?!
Kaylie: Only if Payson says it's okay.
Lauren: Why?...Oh! Right. Payson, if you don't go to the prom I will never speak to you again.
      Payson: Okay, I'll go.
      Kaylie/Lauren: We're going to prom!!

    • Razor: Okay, so how mad at me are you?
Emily: On a scale of one-to-ten? Eleven.

    • Emily: Gymnastics is my only way out. It's the only thing that's going to save me from ending up like my mother.

    • Damon: You work here now?
Carter: Nah, I just like the shirt.
Damon: Don't tell me you work here, too!
Lauren: Please, I would never work here. I wouldn't even eat here!

    • (during training)
Carter: You have to explode off the floor!
Kaylie: I'm not a stick of dynamite.

    • (describing the dress she wants to buy for Emily)
Chloe: Something elegant, yet flirty. Understated, yet sexy. Kick ass,

  • NOTES (3)

-The Burned (Featuring Katie Gray) - "Time" (Damon tells Emily that she deserves to be with a winner, through the end of the episode)

    • John Hughes

John Hughes was a director who was most famous for a string of teenage coming-of-age "dramadies" in the '80s, the most popular ones being Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. Most of his films had climactic scenes at various high school formal dances, usually the prom. Hughes's movies always had happy feel-good endings for the main characters and have been criticized by many as being unrealistic because of this. Lauren says her assumptions of what prom will be like come from these movies, even mentioning Pretty in Pink by name.

    • "Save the Last Dance" is also the title of the Julia Stiles movie of the same name. It is also the title of a Michael Buble song.
