In this episode, Trey said that he can't look in "that thing" since high school, and that he is laughing when he sees that. But in the "Poker 2", Hal and the poker players talked about how many times they make love with their wives and Trey was also in that conversation.
The paramedics showed up late because they stopped for coffee?
Lois asks Francis to help deliver the baby because he has experience delivering barn animals. This actually happens from time to time. In cases where doctors are absent but a veterinarian is near, they do have similar training that can help them to at least oversee the birth.
Hal has several hallucinations while under the influence of the diazepam. This is actually a common occurence at higher doses.
Hal is given 10mg of diazepam to immobilize him. It doesn't work, so the nurse can be seen to give him 3 more shots. That's a total of 40mg at one time, when the maximum recommended dosage is no more than 40mg per day split into three of four doses. A 40mg dose all at once has a high likelihood of causing a dangerous drop in blood pressure and can cause a person to stop breathing or their heart to stop beating. In severe cases, it can cause coma and even death.
The baby's gender is never given.
Francis is the one that delivers the baby.
Ida reveals to Lois that Victor has another family, which will be laid out more in next season episode, "Victor's Other Family."
This episode has no "Camera Commentary".
(Francis repeatedly hits a wood beam with a hammer, panting frantically)
Lois: What are you doing?
Francis: Building calms me down, OK? We're all trying to find ways to cope with this!
Lois: Yes, Francis. I'm trying to cope with this pregnancy BY GIVING BIRTH!
Lois: Francis, you can do this. You know that you can. Now, you are going to put your hands inside of mommy and TAKE OUT THIS BABY!
(Franics has just delivered the baby)
Lois: Francis, thank you. You can go vomit now.
Reese: Yeah, and this baby's not gonna get dropped on its head all of the time.
Dewey: What?
Craig: I just Googled the word baby... 20,000,000 matches! Hey, it says here that there have been a higher percentage of baby's born with tails. I wonder if that would make it easier to tell if they're happy.
Reese: Oh, my God, women are the cows of people!
Craig: What's going on here?
Piama: Lois is in labor, and Hal's not here.
Craig: I have dreamed of this moment!
This is the first episode (minus Company Picnic (2), which really originally aired as a one hour episode), that has no cold open. Instead it is just clips from the previous episode.
Dave Higgins receives the "With" credit.
Cloris Leachman receives the "And" credit.
This marks the final episode of Malcolm's Krelboyne friend, Lloyd (Evan Matthew Cohen).
Bryan Cranston provides the "Previously on Malcolm in the Middle" voice-over for the opening flashback.
The birth scene in this episode was one of the top 20 of Television's Biggest Moments of 2003 aired on ABC in December 2003.
