This episode was great! It was funny! I wanted to see the painting so bad! I hate when they do that! I wouldn't mind having Francis's job though. This episode gets a 9.5 out of 10!moreless
  • Hal quits...

    8.5
Hal quits his job after what a six year old tell him to do, and he focuses in his only interest in life that he has ever had: paintin, Lois at first disapproves but ultimately decides to make Hal give it a try, but like always, Hal decides to dropped it of, but this time Lois is there to stop it, Malcolm is worried what will happen if he choose any job and he can like it, and well I think that this episode was OK, I like a lot the story line between Francis and the lucky aide, and well I guess that was the coolest thing.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Stevie says that with his intelligence and tokenism, the sky is the limit. Tokenism is the practice of including minorities, such as an African American or handicapped individual, so as not to appear biased towards anyone group or type.

    • Hal mentions that he will need to dip heavily into the savings for art supplies, which implies that there is a decent amount in savings to begin with. This seems unlikely given the oft mentioned sorry state of their finances. If they had such savings, they certainly would have used them in the serious situations that have happened previously.

    • While Hal is painting his masterpiece, he is holding a can of green paint, however when the boys Malcolm and Dewey the camera cuts to them and when it cuts back to Hal he is holding a can of red paint.

  • QUOTES (11)

    • Craig: Any questions?
Francis: Which household product will kill me the fastest?
Craig: We're going to start you off with the cotton balls.

    • Malcolm: (to the camera) You know, why plan my future when it's just gonna be a wall of paint crashing down on me? I'm just gonna enjoy being a kid again.

    • Lois: You are gonna finish it!
Hal: (filled with rage since he can't finish the painting) Fine! You want to see me finish it! I'll finish it!!! (picks up some paint and splashes it around the board) How about some here... and there... how about there??? (suddenly pauses and looks at the painting and fixes a few things and completes it)
      Reese: Awesome!
Lois: Hal, I can't believe you did it. It's beautiful.
      Hal: (happily) I did it!

    • Hal: This is good meat loaf. New recipe?
Lois: Nope. Same as it's always been.
      Hal: Ah, come on.
Lois: Oh, you know what, I ran out of tomato sauce and used ketchup instead.

    • Hal: Look out! Paint-a-lanche!!

    • Lois: There's got to be 500 gallons of paint up there.
Hal: There isn't... yeah, that's about right.

    • Craig: Francis, I want you to count all the malt balls. (hands Francis a clipboard and a pen as he walks off)
Francis: Should I start with the 40 in your belly?
Craig: I heard that... and I'm paying for those.

    • Lois: You quit your job??!!

    • Lois: Boys, I need to speak to your father alone.
Reese: So? You have a bedroom, we're eating!

    • Reese: What's her name again?
      Dewey: Regina Tucker.
Reese: I'm sure we'll think of something.

    • Lois: You quit because a 6-year-old told you your job was awful?
Malcolm: You should have seen it, Mom. He made Dad cry.
Hal: The boy was cruel... but fair.
