During the open sequence, Reese discovers a covered over Picaso painting (which he thinks is Pickasso). Had this been a real painting and the family known about it, it would have been the end of all of their financial woes. Rarely, though it does happen, unknown paintings are discovered. A newly discovered Picaso painting would be worth millions.
In this episode, we learn that Francis got fired from his job at the ranch because he 'deposited' Otto's salaries at a 'cash machine' which was not really a cash machine. As a result, Otto now wants to sue him.
Lois: (After the car war) No one says a word! (to Reese) This is my one, MY ONE, to your eleven thousand!
Reese: You coming, Malcolm? Malcolm: You sure? I might accidentally talk about myself. Dewey: You mean like just now?
Francis: I got fired from my job, and I'm totally broke. Hal: What? You got fired from the ranch? Francis: It turns out the ATM I was making all of Otto's deposits into wasn't an ATM. So sue me, right? Anyway, he's suing me.
Hal: How much money do we have? Lois: Zero. Hal: No, I mean everything. Credit cards, loose change, everything? Lois: Oh. Minus $512. Hal: What?! Oh, for God's sakes!
(Woman accidently hits Lois' door with her car door, and doesn't apologize) Lois: Excuse me? I know you didn't think anyone would catch you, but you just slammed your door into my car. The least you could do is say you're sorry, lady. Woman: You don't have to take that tone. It's not like I'm hurting your resale value. (walks off) (Lois bangs her car door and woman looks back at her shocked) Lois: I'm sorry. See? Like that.
Piama: You said this house was Satan's trash can! Francis: Oh, honey, you're quoting me out of context!
Cold Open: Reese is throwing a ball against a wall and knocks a picture down. When he goes to glue it to the painting underneath it, he sees the word Picasso, which he reads as "pick-ass-o".
Francis reveals the ranking of favoritism amongst the brothers; Francis is 1, Dewey is 2, Reese is 3, Jamie is 4, and Malcolm is 5.
The look on Lois' face when her car nearly stalls toward the end of the demolition is the same as when the car stalls in "Home Alone 4."

It's difficult to see, but when Lois is in the demolition derby with the other woman, you can just catch a glimpse of the Mustang's license plate. At the top it says "Cherokee State" which is Oklahoma. This could very well be where the family has lived all this time.

Lois's stunt in this episode with the car war is exactly like Malcolm and Reese's go-cart chicken battle in "Forwards Backwards"
